On a humid December evening in Petaling Jaya, something rare happened: time appeared to slow down. A Drive-In Becomes A Gathering Place Again
Held on 17 December 2025, A&W Malaysia’s “Seasons of Giving” event at Damansara Jaya was more than a celebration: it was an invitation to relive the classic drive-in experience. With more than 100 years of history, A&W has always been more than a fast-food chain; it’s a place where families and friends gather to create lasting memories.
Hosted by Andrew Khoo, Chairman and CEO of MUI Group, and attended by Adam Jang, CEO of A&W Malaysia, the event felt less like a corporate function and more like a warm family gathering. It was also an evening of giving back. During the event, Andrew Khoo and Adam Jang presented a cheque for RM5,000 to a local charity, highlighting the brand’s commitment to the community.
The Drive-In Launch
More than nostalgia, the event also served as a soft launch for the return of A&W’s iconic drive-in dining experience. Officially relaunching in mid-December 2025, A&W’s drive-in bays are back and ready to serve.
The newly revived drive-in bays at the restaurant entrance offer a space reserved exclusively for drive-in customers. It’s a throwback to the classic car-side service, where customers can enjoy meals from the comfort of their cars, delivered straight to their vehicle.
Food Memories Reignite With Familiar Favourites
Two major menu moments stole the spotlight. First, the long-awaited return of A&W’s Onion Rings. Responding directly to customer demand, the crispy, hand-breaded favourites are back on the menu, paired alongside the iconic Root Beer Float and classic menu items.
Adding to the nostalgic feel, the event also featured limited-edition 100th Anniversary glass mugs, a collector’s item that celebrates A&W’s century-long journey. For many, the sight of the heavy glass mugs was a reminder of childhood birthdays and family outings at A&W.
Conversations, Community, And Giving Back
Beyond food and flair, the evening was about emotions, comfort, and connection. Coffee sessions between invited guests and the team at A&W highlighted the brand’s enduring appeal across generations.
